Marathon Training Week 2 - #marathon training #barefoot running

Week 2 consisted of 2 runs during the week of 6 miles each which were pretty good from a time perspective. Tried to focus on my form in the Vibram shoes but noticed that during last mile of each run that my form suffered and I suspect is causing the pain in my left foot right now.

I finished up the week with a 2 hour run where I got in between 11-12 miles. It was a rough run as my left foot was bothering me from the start. Although the rest of my body has already recovered my foot hurts to bad to walk around for very long. Taking it easy today and contemplating wearing my trail shoes for this coming week's runs.

Stay tuned for more updates next week.

First Barefoot Run is in the Books

Today, I completed my first barefoot run in my Vibram Five Fingers.
Ran 2.6 miles and felt pretty good while running. Got a small blister
which doesn't surprise me with new shoes. Calve muscles are pretty
right and will be interested to see how they feel as the day goes on.

Born to Run and Barefoot Running Google Talks
I recently began reading "Born to Run" by Chris McDougal, which is an excellent book. In this book he talks about barefoot running. The links below are from the Google Talk series where Chris McDougal and Barefoot Ted talk about barefoot running.

The Next Challenge....Triathlon?

As I was in the middle of a du-athlon workout this morning I decided that I am going to attempt to complete a triathlon on July 4th. This is going to require me to actually start swimming on a regular basis and be able to complete 20 lengths. This should be a good challenge.

I headed out for an 8 mile run in preparation for next Saturday's 1/2 marathon. For what is typically an easy run ended up being a run that I had to struggle through. I am hoping next week's trails will be easier on me then the road was today.
